The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the biggest and most ambitious tournament in football history. For the first time ever, 48 national teams will compete — up from 32 — across three host nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Spanning 16 cities over a vast geographical area, this tournament is a monumental logistical achievement, taking fans from the cool climate of Toronto to the scorching heat of Guadalajara.

Three Host Nations – A Historic First

This will be the first World Cup ever hosted by three countries simultaneously. The United States, Mexico, and Canada were awarded the tournament in 2018 and have worked together to create a unique football celebration across North America.

The USA takes center stage with 11 of the 16 venues, hosting the majority of matches — including all quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the grand final. Key American host cities include New York/New Jersey, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, and Kansas City.

Mexico becomes the first country to host the World Cup for a third time (after 1970 and 1986). The passion in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey is legendary, and the atmosphere is expected to be electric.

Canada makes its debut as a men's World Cup host. Vancouver and Toronto will represent the nation with modern stadiums and a rapidly growing football culture.

48 Teams Battle for Glory

For the first time, 48 nations will fight for football's ultimate prize. From established powerhouses to exciting underdogs, the expanded format gives more countries a realistic chance to shine on the global stage.

The three host nations (USA, Mexico, and Canada) qualify automatically, while the remaining 45 spots are earned through intense qualification campaigns across all confederations.
